Dolphins fan here! I can honestly say you guys are a class act. Some of us fans (including myself) were running our mouths saying there is no way the Texans beat our newly ravamped Fins (especially w/ the wildcat). And I havent seen one fan over at our site to rub it in. Thank you. Im so used to dealing with Jets and Patsie fans I forget that there are fans out there that dont talk alot of smack. I can tell you your team is is on the way to being a very good team and the aquisition of Schaub looks alot better than his QB rating did before this week. Maybe we'll see each other in the AFC championship next year (hopefully its in Miami).

I’ve been about as busy lately as a one armed drummer in a heavy metal band (no, don’t give me any Def Leppard dish, they are NOT heavy metal), so when I finally got two minutes to catch my breath Sunday morning I thought to myself (I’ve found that’s the best way to think) it’s the perfect opportunity to fire off a fanpost on the BRB. I mean, I haven’t even had time to go on BRB lately, let alone post something.

So, I organized my thoughts about the game against the Baby Horses, and came up with what I thought was a decent post. Not on the level of a Tim, or a Solis, but adequate non-the-less. After writing the text, I copied and saved in the post window and hit the “publish” key. It was then that SB Nation sent to the log-in page. I was already logged in! After 4-5 times of attempting to post, I gave up, dropped by Tim’s open thread for game day, and vented a little.

For the record, and I’m going to be straight-up and say this like the man that I am, here’s what I would have posted: Lone Star Denizens 24, Indianapolis Baby Horses 21. After watching the first half and part of the second, the sour taste of SB Nation was out of my mouth for good I thought, as our Texans were pushing the Indy team around with 27 unanswered points after spotting Manning and company 10 in the first quarter. So when I left to go my afternoon gig I felt confident. Super Mario had sacked Archie’s #1 son twice, and we were about to beat those Mares from Indiana. Not outscore them, but B-E-A-T them. So when I got home Sunday night and flipped on ESPN (I can’t stand there programming, but the score ticker at the bottom of the screen catches you up quickly) I was shocked. Dumbfounded. Despondent. I didn’t have a warm fuzzy anymore, but the warm taste of pseudo-puke in my throat. Thirty-one to twenty-seven? What the hell?

Anyway, this week we host the Poor-pusses from Little Cuba. If we lose to this team, this week, at Reliant, we should all gather at the 50 yard line at midnight and drink antifreeze together. This team is 2-2? They were 1-15 last year, and damn-it, we are a better team than they are. Oil City Texans 30, Little Cuba Poor-pusses 17. Bank on it.

I am a Bronco fan. I know you guys are probably getting tired of us entering your site and giving our opinion--but we can't help it. Kubiak has such a special part of our heart--all the way back to the '80's.

Your team is so much better than what has happened the first quarter of this season--my jaw is dropped. Nobody is 'romping' over you--you are giving games away. If you are capable of giving games away (games you should have one) then you should be able to not give away some. You guys are so much better than your record!

I still look forward to us meeting in the playoffs--your team can do it--I look forward to it!

So I was watching a Colts game with a buddy this weekend and I decided to do a play by play of the last 5 minutes of this game which can be produced into a movie one day. Absolutely incredible. Check out my blog at yoonewverse.com

-----------

Four minutes and 4 seconds left in the game. I thought it was over. I really did. Not only the game, but our season. If we were losing to the Texans, I knew any Colts fan's hope was dimming - damn near diminished. It doesn't get lower than the Texans. Wait...It doesn't get lower than Sage Rosenfels behind center for the Texans and defeating you.

After watching him pick our “old” defense apart, I began replaying our NFL title in 06. Man those were good memories. Then, I came back to reality - Texans leading 27-10.

I was ready to throw my Manning jersey at the tube. We were about to be three games down to undefeated and “overrated,” Tennessee. It made me sick. Then, it happened. I was about to turn off the game, when I saw a drive reminiscent of Peyton two seasons ago. He drove us all the way to the Houston 7 yard-line and threw a strike to Santi down the middle for a touch-down. 27-17. Four minutes left. No onside kick. Dungy is much smarter than that. I think deep down inside he knew he could force Sage into some mistakes and that we did.

For some unknown reason, Sage still thought we were in August and the Olympics were on when he began attempting flips in the middle of the field, when he got popped, fumbled, and Gary Brackett danced his way into the Texans end-zone with a 68 yard return. Touchdown. 24-20.

You can just see the look on the Texans face – Priceless. This reminded me of their classic let-down against Frank Reich and Buffalo 16 years ago when they were steamrolling the Bills with Moon, until the 2nd half was totally different. But could this have been worse if we completed it? I mean, we came down from 17 in 4 minutes. They had 30 minutes to come back from 34. Do the math.

So the Texans have 2 minutes to drive us into the ground and run out the clock. Rosenfels snaps, scrambles, and Mathis slaps him on the arm, causes him to fumble and Hallelujah, we recovered.

The sideline is going crazy. My family is telling me to keep it down. Manning drives and drives. He then throws a fade into the corner endzone where one of the best receivers in football, Reggie Wayne, has a corner on him like glue and still catches the ball with 1 hand for a TD. It goes to review and you couldn't see this replay enough. It was absolutely beautiful and one of the top catches of the year. 31-27 our lead. Houston...we have a problem.

The Texans have one last chance and we collect a game-ending interception from Rosenfels who threw the ball no-where near a Texans receiver.

A clutch win by a veteran team and one that could be looked upon later this year as the turning point in our season. This week, we have Baltimore at home who's been struggling and expect our first home victory in Lucas Oil. That will take us to 3-2 and with Tennessee on the horizon in 2 weeks, we can easily be back amongst the AFC's elite where we belong.

Ok, I figured I'd hold off for a few days in case you folks were frothing mad over the game. I didn't want to be a jerk and come in here and say, "hey, great game guys!" when really I'm sure all of you feel the Colts stole the game. I will say this, and I do sincerely mean it:

The Texans are a very good up-and-coming team.

This year, for whatever reason, they've been hit with rotten luck. Lots of teams have. San Diego, the favorite for most pundits, is 2-3 and just lost to the friggin Dolphins. The Jagurs really should be 0-5. If not for horrible officiating in their game against my team and yours, they lose those games. Bad calls gave them 2 wins. Bad calls, a hurricane, inconsistent play, and the flu gave you guys 4 loses.

Please let it be known that your team is now feared. Your front 4 is very good. You have a great young RB. Schuab, when healthy, is effective. And it seems your front office and your coaches are on the same page. It might not seem like much right now, but this organization is in much better shape now than 4 years ago, or even last year.

Hang in there.

We Colts fans fear your team more so than Tennessee or Jacksonville. The Jagurs are a shell of their former felves, and the Titans have the #2 overall pick in the 2006 draft sitting on their bench because he stinks. Know we like and respect your team. Know that, each and every year, it gets harder and harder to beat them. This year, it took 4:45 minutes of miracle.

Hang in there. You have a good team. I know you know this, but sometimes the "bad guys" need to put things into perspective for you. I am not looking forward to Week 11. Your boys will be looking for payback.

Go Colts!

Hey guys and gals of the Battle Red. This is Matty I from SBN's Dolphins blog, The Phinsider. Tim and I figured a good way to prepare for Sunday's game would be to get involved on each other's sites. And I loved the idea.

So get at me with your Dolphin questions and I'll do my best to answer them - hopefully in a timely fashion. For example, if you want counseling on how to deal with 0-4, I'm probably the right guy for you. Does 0-13 ring a bell? Thought so.

Oh, and yes - it does bother me that the Texans are the only franchise in the NFL that the Dolphins have never defeated.

Hit me up with your question and good luck on Sunday. If nothing else, I'm sure we can all agree on hoping for an injury-free game!

1993-1994 Oilers. The season after the Buffalo fiasco, which happened the day after my lovely spouse and I got hitched. I was on the plane to San Francisco and the pilot came on and said the Oilers had lost 41-38, I remember thinking, " well at least they made a game of it". I learned the real story later.

The Oilers started the next season 1-4, and I remember Bob Allen and others just dogging them. I was a newly wed and don't really remember but how were they playing? Horribly or just unlucky? They went on to win the last 11 in a row. My wife was lucky enough to be with me on our 1st anniversary to watch them beat the Jets for the 11th win.

Alright people, time to pull out that crystal ball and predict the outcome of the game.

we should have our starting qb back for this game, and i can see slaton topping 100, maybe a few touchdowns. I'm thinking Andre can get around 125-150 and a touchdown. as long as we dont turn the ball over we have proved we can at least be competitivebeat the smack out of anyone. i really wanna see what everyone else here is thinking in reference to the final score. how much do you think we will beat the fins by? I'm sticking to my 21-20 texans prediction

Texans @ Dolphins week 6

Ok people, I'm looking foward to this weeks game! In anticipation for the upcoming game, i'm giving a look at the matchup between us and the Dolphins. Miami is looking good their last 2 (two) games, and that wildcat formation is doing some damage to opposing teams gamplans, and no one seems to have an answer for Ronnie Brown. The Dolphins are currently on a 2 (two) game winning streak, while we are in the middle of a 4 (four) game losing streak.

STATS

(as per nfl.com today which have not updated for this last week yet. I will update when they do):

Points per Game: HOU 20.8pts/gm(18th) MIA 19.8pts/gm(23rd)

Yards per Game: HOU 312.3yds/gm(13th) MIA 324yds/gm(10th)

Points Allowed per Game: HOU 32.5(30th) MIA18.5(7th)

Yards Allowed per Game: HOU 334.2yds/gm(18th) MIA 288.8yds/gm(8th)

As you can see, Miami is not missing Jason Taylor so far with a top 10 D, but our Offense is a lil bit better, so as long as our D brings it like they did last game, this should be a good matchup. Next we take a look a positions and who has the edge.

QB--------------Texans: Matt Schaub(at least i hope) Miami:Chad Pennington

Yards and Per game 697/232.3 gm 817/ 204.2 per gm

Advantage-Push: If Schaub had played last game and had these stats, id give it to Miami. as is, solid play from pennington without errors is part of the reason for the fins success. I have no doubt that if schaub would have played last gamewe would have won and his stats would have been decent.

Advantage-Push: both teams running attacks are looking similar on paper, but the Texans seem to be pass first, and the Fins are run based. look for similar yards but more tds from miami run game.

td 1 3 0 0 1 2

Advantage-Texans: We have a good bunch of recievers, and the qbs have done a good job distributing the ball. Miami's widouts lack the talent, but the run game gives them more room to work with.

Defense. Advantage-Miami: the stats speak for themself. Miami is currently a top 10 Defense, while we are in the bottom half.

Overall Advantage based on stats: Miami. They look like a new team on a mission these last few games. i have no doubt it will be a good game. look for the Fins to give a healthy dose of Ronnie Brown/Ricky Willaims the entire game, with around 10 snaps to Brown directly out of the wildcat. I'm expecting a 21-20 win for the texans as time expires. BATTLE RED FOR LIFE!!!!

What do you think?

At the rate we are going this year, the best thing might turn out to be the pick we get. We have some very talented core players, but depth is an issue at positions like wr, the whole secondary, lb, and I don't know about you but I would love to see another stud wr lined up next to aj. Most of all, we need a leader on offense. I see the defensive leader in 'meco, but I want to see someone on the offense step up to that role with some fire(lookin at you, schaubby). but lets play GM for a minute, what postion would you want, and even better is who? Myself, I would love to see slaton's old roomie from wv Pat White, at least then if he has to run(lookin at you sage) he might just make something happen. What do you think?

i think we can agree to stop asking for the qb who gave up 21 points in a few min. Dont get me wrong, he has some potential(like 28 pints in a qtr against tenn), but he could beat out aj ****ing feeley in miami, and just gave the colts a win on a silver platter. all i ask is no more sage. as far as the rest of the team, great effort, nice to see reeves acually find the ball in air for once, mario manhandling the colts oline, and great day by "slasher" slaton and AJ.

4:04 - Houston's up 27-10. 17 points. 3 possessions. It's safe, right?

From ESPN: Backup Rosenfels, playing for the ill Matt Schaub, had the winless Texans (0-4) ahead by 17 points before losing two fumbles and throwing an interception. Texans fans had wanted to see Schaub replaced all season, and Rosenfels was nearly flawless for three quarters. Then came one of the most colossal collapses in the history of the young franchise.

3 turnovers by Sage Rosenfels. 21 points by the Colts. In 4 minutes. F.ck. Sage. Rosenfels.

Hiya Texans fan. Before you start throwing tomatoes and shotgun pellets at me, let me state that I am not here to rub into your faces the current 0-3 plight of the Texans. As Tim will attest to, I think the Texans are better than there 0-3 record. Crappy luck and inconsistent play have started their season with a dud. But look at it this way, my beloved Colts are about in the same boat with you. If not for some last minute heroics by Peyton Manning and Adam Vinatieri, Indy would be joining you this week at 0-3. And while I think the Titans certainly deserve their 4-0 start, the fact is their roster is not much different than your roster in terms of talent.

There is a very fine line between winning and losing. Very fine.

So, I'm here to field your questions about the Colts and your team's upcoming match-up with them. Tim is doing something similar with Colts fans over at Stampede Blue. Also, those of you fans still picking up the pieces after Hurricane Ike, know we Hoosiers have you in our thoughts and prayers. If you can suggest any charities or donation houses I can plug at Stampede Blue, I'm hpapy to do so.

Ask away.

Bryan Pittman: Why We Didn't Kick FGs Last Week?

According to Kubes, that's a big part of it. What's more, Pittman may be looking for work real soon. Kubes in today's Chronicle:

"He has struggled, not just last week, but he has had some rough snaps throughout the course of the last month," Kubiak said. "So we'll get him some extra work this week; even more than we give him normally. We're working the (tight end Clark) Harris kid also, who can snap, who's on our practice squad. So, it can't happen. It's got to be right."

Most of us have never understood the merits of keeping Pittman on the active roster when so many other Texans have the ability to long-snap, so it makes sense that Pittman's job security is at an all-time low. Keep an eye on him come Sunday; one bad snap sounds like it might be all it'll take to cost him his playbook.

NOTE FROM TIM: Let's give this exercise a try instead of Marroncito, Solis, and/or I bogarting the question thing with the opposition. If you've got any questions Jaguar-related, post 'em in the Comments here and Chris will do his best to provide the knowledge we desperately seek.

Greetings and Hello!

I'm Chris, the Jacksonville Jaguars blogger at Big Cat Country, and your upcoming opponent this weekend. Well, I'm not actually your opponent, I don't know that I'd even have a shot as a kicker were I to play Football, but that's neither here nor there. Anyhow, I'm writing you today to open up a thread for questions and answers about the Jacksonville Jaguars. Feel free to ask me anything about the team, what to expect this weekend, etc, and I'll do my best to provide accurate and entertaining answers throughout the week.

Also, I would like to know if there's a particular charity that the Houston Texans are focusing on for Hurricane Relief. I've been through quite a few storms with my time in Florida and know how long getting things back to normal can take. I'm trying to organize a contribution from BCC to the relief fund. I assume the Red Cross is who the Texans are supporting, but if it's something different, let me know.

That said, let's get some questions!

is it panic time yet?

as soon as we looked at the schedule all or most of us were particularly scared of the first 5 games of the schedule. well none of us thought that we would start the season in such a horrible manner. After the steelers game i thought that the steelers were just a very good team and probable a AFC title game good team, but then they looked terrible against the eagles and that made me second guess the steelers as a top tier team and with that makes me feel even worse about our team.

on sunday i was hoping that history wouldnt repeat itself because lets face the Titans own our team. i think we are like 1 - 12 in the history of the texans against the titans. at the beginning of the year i said that this would be the year that we wouldnt be the bottom dwellers of the division and called for a season sweep of the titans. well now that shit went out the window and i am starting to panic and really contimplating a 0 - 4 start to the season.

the jags have some issue of their own and had to make a great last minute comeback against the colts to avoid their own 0 - 3 start. we play the jags well every year and usually steal at least 1 from them a year. also looking at the schedule we have the colts who arent looking like the team of old and more like just an old team, but still possibly looking at a 0 - 4 team.

but then have a stretch of 3 very favorable games against the dolphins, lions, and bengals. after that stretch we are looking for a possible 4 - 3 team that is coming off a 3 game win streak. so with this information is it really panic time yet? how long before the organization hits the panic button and the schaub project is scrapped in favor of the sage-flavored texans? i am hoping that we wait until mid season to make any changes to this team. of course i am just looking for something to put a possitive spin on my team and keep looking foward. let me know what you think and if you are in panic mode or looking at a possible 4 - 3 team going into the second half of the season?

Watching NFL football two weeks ago and no team was from Houston.

Then one a week ago a very large Hurricane named Ike caused you to miss the games that week, but no teams were affected, because there is no team in Houston.

This, my fellow Texans fans, is what life would have been like in 1998. When there was no team in Houston.

The Texans suck, no doubt about it, but it is just plain awesome to at least have a team to cuss and moan about. For those of you who remember how crappy it felt as a sports fan, to lose your freaking football team. All I'm saying is, I will never give up on the Texans........But Dammit!!!....................................................................................

Sit Schaub, start Sage, until he gives you reason otherwise!

Who calls the plays? Kubiak or Shanahan or Both? Whatever is it change it all.

Fire the defensive coordinator and give the job to Ray Rhodes.

I LOVE STEVE SLATON!

And I do believe this season will get better!

Pro Football Talk has a scouting report for our game written by former Broncos GM Ted Sundquist. In a nutshell, his keys are:

1) Texans must establish confidence in their offense

2) DeMeco is most important in stopping Titans' running game

3) Titans must open up passing game (downfield) with pocket-comfortable Collins under center

4) Fat Albert

5) 'Dre Davis must help Texans by establishing good field position, and possibly breaking one

Go read it. It is excellent stuff.
